I have personally never really been the “overly excited graduate.” When I graduated from high school, I was class president and STILL did not understand why everyone one was so emotional. I guess it’s just because I expect to graduate, I’m not the type to be surprised or anxious to graduate because I know it going to happen no matter what. I’ve been in school, not including pre-school, for approximately… 16 years! If I don’t graduate or accomplish the goals that are set with attending school that long then I have been doing something wrong right?

 That’s just my feelings no judgment on others everyone is different and no matter how I feel or anyone else, graduation will always be an exciting memory that you should always cherish! Congratulations class of 2010!

Before I started my internship everyone asked if I would be able to handle class, my job at the cafeteria and this internship. I am more than happy to say that I can. In fact my time management skills have gotten better. This internship has me excited about what’s to come after graduation. I suggest that every one does at least one internship in their college career. Not only is it an easy boost to the resume but it can also determine if the field of choice is the one for you.

Most people wait until their Junior or Senior year to do internships but I chose to get one early. As they say “the early bird gets the worm”. Don’t wait until the last-minute to get experience in your field. The more time you devote to your craft the longer you have to perfect it. Don’t just stop at one internship either. Experience is a huge resume booster and can be a big help when finding a job in today’s  economy. Companies are looking for people who can get started on the job right away and the best way to do that is to know what you’re doing.  So get out there and take charge of your life. Don’t just wait for opportunity to come to you. Go out there and get it yourself.

Like many people tend to feel when starting a new job, I felt a little anxious of the many things that could go WRONG when starting my internship, what if I’m not  helpful or if it totally shows that I may NOT know what I’m doing all the time. When I was introduced to all the wonderful people who work for this amazing company, all of my fears vanished instantly and I realized anyone of these people could be a perfect mentor for any career path I decide to follow.

While interning, I will be  blogging throughout the time I spend here and sharing updates on how my experiences are progressing! Feel free to comment on my posts as well as share your stories too! I would love to hear about others experiences as well, I’m sure we can all learn from each other.

However, I am definitely clear on one thing since interning thus far, this opportunity of engaging in the work world, communicate and network with many successful people; is the best experience to be a part of now!
